The music starts at 7pm with VCU Jazz. Then at 9pm Doc and the Keynotes the longest running Jazz gig in the country begins. If you are a player bring your sax, guitar, trumpet, flute, etc. You are welcome to sit in. Players who have sat in on Friday Night. Range from studio musicians from Los Angeles to band members from Parliament-Funkadelic. Please come and join us, to listen, play, or sing. It is an open set.

This is a jazz Plus Jam Session so the performers bring the flavor. The entire event is hosted by Doc Ralph Branch and the Keynotes. Doc Ralph Branch and the Keynotes provides the Jazz and traditional Blues backbone. Every Friday night it’s a soulful evening of music, full of love, to all those who attend. All that and great Spanish eats too.
The band started playing 33 years ago. They have been playing every Friday Night for 30 years at Meadow and Broad Street. The first restaurant bar was called Rick’s, then Ritchie’s, and now Emilio’s. It is a national record. No other band, in the United States, have been playing, at one location for 30 years straight.
